Bartók’s Farewell

Centennial Concert Hall

Matthias Bamert, conductor
Zoltán Fejérvári, piano

Jacques Hétu: Légendes
Béla Bartók: Piano Concerto No. 3
César Franck: Symphony in D minor

Composed near the end of his life, Béla Bartók’s Third Piano Concerto was dedicated to his wife Ditta’s talents as an outstanding pianist. We welcome soloist Zoltán Fejérvárii – First-Prize winner of the 2017 Montreal International Musical Competition-to perform this touching work. Renowned Swiss conductor Matthias Bamert is a prolific recording artist and a special friend to our orchestra from past acclaimed appearances. Inspired by the symphonic structures of Beethoven’s music and thematic reoccurrences in Wagner’s, Franck’s Symphony in D minor overflows with melody and passion.
