Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 “Choral”

Our Beethoven 250 celebration concludes with the grandest symphony of them all, Beethoven’s epic Ninth with its memorable “Ode to Joy,” one of the most profound themes in music. For the first time, Beethoven added solo singers and a huge chorus to the symphony, singing the stirring words of Friedrich Schiller’s poem that became the musical anthem for freedom celebrations around the world.
